Everything about Miles screams extravagance and power. With that, it was up to the production designerThat meant a giant mansion topped with a glass onion. Inside, an atrium resembles a museum filled with Banksy, Kandinsky and the Mona Lisa. As Heinrichs peeled the real onion, he noticed the layers “and the sculptural quality was amazing to explore and understand as I was slicing into it, and I had to get into that.”Once Heinrichs had carved his onion conceptually, he says his challenge was how to build it. “You’re trying to turn structural materials into a compound shape. It would have been ridiculously expensive to attempt to do compound curves on the glass,” he says.
