How internet prices in SA compare to the rest of the world
Fixed-line broadband packages are slightly more affordable in South Africa than the standard around the world.SA is also in the middle of the pack when it comes to value for money.Cable.co.uk is a UK-based telecommunications comparison service that aims to provide a transparent view of broadband prices across different providers.
There are different ways to look at the data, but South Africa was roughly in the middle of the pack using two significant metrics. Interestingly, Sudan offered the most affordable packages in the world when looking at the data in this way, and was joined on the podium by Argentina and Belarus. In this regard, South Africa was in position 110 in the table, with an average cost of R9.33 or $0.50 per megabit.
