Nomsa Masuku, an Electoral Commission of South Africa commissioner, stands accused of diverting scholarship money to unqualified recipients, including two of her nephews.
Masuku, 62, who has a PhD in Applied English Linguistics from the University of Birmingham, UK, appeared in the Johannesburg Specialised Commercial Crime Court sitting in Palm Ridge after she was arrested by the Hawks on Friday morning.
