With this connection, Esra’s is establishing a small-scale food system. Holdford is the supplier and wholesaler, while Esra’s is a distributor. The Elbadris hope they can create more connections with Black farmers in the future. Esra’s is more than a place to grab a bite to eat. Some folks stop by just to hang out. Daniel, a tall, soft-spoken man visits only to play the piano.“It’s the food,” he said. “Around here, there aren’t good things like this. Then, when I come in here, Muna just glows.”
