Houston stays at No. 2 in national basketball polls as Alabama vaults to No. 1
Alabama, which beat UH in a nonconference game in December, edged out the Cougars for the top spot in the AP and USA Today coaches polls this week.The University of Houston remained No. 2 in the Associated Press and USA Today Coaches polls Monday., jumped from No. 3 to the top spot in both polls. Alabama received 38 first-place votes in the AP poll, compared to 22 for Houston.
Purdue, which remained No. 1 despite a loss to Indiana last week, fell to third after losing to Northwestern. The Boilermakers received two first-place votes.: Alabama, UH, Purdue, UCLA, Texas, Virginia, Kansas, Arizona, Baylor and Marquette.
