Solange is carving out a new niche.

The Houston native singer, actress, visual artist, DJ, musician and sister to Beyoncé announced Monday that she will write an original score for the New York City Ballet. It will premiere at the company's fashion gala in September.

According to the New York Times, the score will be composed for a chamber ensemble and will include some of Solange's musical collaborators and the City Ballet orchestra.We want to foster conversation and highlight the intersection of race, identity and culture in one of America's most diverse cities.
