After finding his biological mother in Chile, Houston firefighter helped Texas 'brother' do the same
after being stolen at birth in Chile is now helping another Texas firefighter do the same.
“To find out 38 years later that parts of your adoption are false, it’s a real big gut-check. You’re like ‘Wow, parts of my life have been a lie,’” Avary said."Now I’m going back and finding history, and figuring out things.” “It seems like every other day, we learn something new about each other where we say ‘Hey, I’m the same way,’” Avary said. “We’ve got a huge connection now.”
“They basically kicked her out of the hospital, and they told my mom ‘You gave your son up. Get out of here,’” Avary said. Graf’s adoptive parents raised him in Minnesota. His adoptive mother, Carol Graf Carnish, said they had no idea he’d been stolen at birth. Carnish also joined the trip to Chile on Saturday.
