San Antonio is among the top 100 in the U.S. but when it comes to the world's best cities, three other Texas cities have a leg up on the Alamo City.

It also was the top finish among other Texas cities, beating Austin, which ranked at No. 43, and Dallas at No. 47., noting the city's steady increase in population as Houston attracts new residents from states like California and New York, and from other countries.It's the seventh year that Houston has ranked on the list of the world's best cities, a spokesperson confirmed.
"In the past year, immigration both domestic and international has swelled the metro population almost seven million—an increase of almost 300,000. And the people arriving are more educated and more international than before the pandemic. Houston today is one of America’s most ethnically diverse big cities, with more than 145 languages spoken at home, according to the latest census—about even with New York.

Demand for workers in construction, oil and gas and the medical field, gave newcomers a shot at the American Dream.in industries such as agriculture, construction, manufacturing, professional services, entertainment and food services, according to an analysis by the Center for Houston’s Future. The Center also found that more than 40% of Houston’s doctors, petroleum engineers and scientists are foreign-born.
