The House today passed a bill that would revive the $670 billion small business aid program that shut down just hours earlier, leaving only Trump’s signature to restart the flow of emergency funds
Just weeks ago, earlier legislation revamping the terms of the loans nearly stalled in the Senate after critics of the program resisted.
It has delivered more than half a trillion dollars in financial support to employers since it launched in early April, and the short extension now buys time for lawmakers seeking to keep it alive in a new form for the next several months. At a hearing Wednesday morning, Velázquez said that until lawmakers knew where the money was going, “We cannot blindly extend the program.”
