Hotto on target as Namibia fall at Orlando
JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA - JUNE 09: Deon Hotto of Namibia during the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifier match between Namibia and Tunisia at Orlando Stadium on June 09, 2024 in Johannesburg, South Africa. Nigeria failed to register consecutive wins to consolidate top spot in Group D of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers after playing to a goalless draw with Rwanda on Tuesday.
The two-time champions continued their menacing act particularly up top where Amine Gouiri was on hand to make the breakthrough with Adem Zorgane following suit a while later. With no goals scored in the first half, the Harambee Stars turned out strong in the second stanza and were ahead through John Avire and Duke Abuya.
The lead was extremely short-lived though as the Leone Stars hit back through Augustus Kargbo and effectively forced the clash to end level at halftime.
