Although the weather service’s excessive heat warning for majority of North Texas, including Dallas, Collin, Denton and Tarrant counties, is set to expire 8 p.m. Wednesday, a heat advisory will be in effect through Thursday evening.

Triple-digit high temperatures are expected on Thursday and Friday before dipping into the high 90s during the weekend. Lows throughout the week are forecast to be in the low 80s and high 70s, with chances for rain beginning this weekend.Heat-related illnesses are a threat for anyone who is outside for an extended period of time.

Dallas Fire-Rescue responded to 30 environmental emergency calls — with 16 people taken to the hospital — throughout Tuesday, department spokesman Jason Evans said.MedStar, which provides emergency medical services to Fort Worth and surrounding areas, it treated 19 patients for heat-related illnesses Tuesday, with 16 of them needing further treatment at hospitals.
