It’s a section of Ottawa that has been hit hard in recent years.

“Heron Gate has had a tough go of it,” said Paul Howard, one of the organizers. “We want to shine some light in there, we want to tell a positive story for the kids.” The day is broken down into age groups. GIrls 7-12 will have a clinic between 10-11 a.m.; girls ages 13-16 from 11 a.m.-noon; boys between 7 and 12 from noon to 1 p.m. and boys between 13-16 from 1-2 p.m. At 3 p.m., there will be a game between the Heron Gate Legends vs. OC Transpo . There will be a community BBQ between 4:30-6 p.m.
