Malik, a one\u002Dtime Air India bombing suspect, was shot to death Thursday in Surrey.

Homicide investigators are now focused on the SUV, which was found burning just six blocks away right after Malik was fatally wounded about 9:26 p.m. outside 8236 128th St.

He would not comment on how many suspects are believed to have been in the Honda when it passed Malik’s office building about 8:11 a.m. Nor would he comment on whether the vehicle may have been stolen, like so many others used in similar targeted shootings across the Lower Mainland in recent years. Malik was also a founder of the Khalsa Credit Union and the Satnam Education Society, which runs several independent schools and gets financing from the B.C. government.

Some criticized Malik for the letter, in which he also expressed support for a united India in contrast to his previous support for separatism.“These are complex cases and I can’t say specific is how long it could take. It could be two weeks, two months or two years – we can’t say because the investigation is unfolding right now,” Lee said.
