Homeowners now better positioned to weather a downturn than a decade ago, report argues via financialpost

As home price appreciation skyrocketed throughout the 2010s and interest rates were low, LTV ratios have trended downwards, according to the report, which analyzed the average price and new mortgage values published by CMHC-Equifax Canada in 12 major markets to compare LTV ratios in Q3 2012 and Q3 2022.
The agency suggests that three main factors contributed to the downward pressure on LTV ratios in that time period.
