Three days after the trade, Taylor Chychrun is still finding it hard to believe how and where she has been re\u002Dunited with her brother.
Jeff and his wife, Nancy, settled in Florida after his career ended and he’s currently an analyst for broadcasts of Panthers games, but the family has spent every summer at their cottage on White Lake, an hour’s drive west of Ottawa. When Taylor and Jakob were young, the family came back to Ottawa for Christmas, spending time with their grandfather.
“I kind of set my sights on moving up north,” she said. “I was interested in seeing other cities. But it’s funny, I would never have seen myself in Ottawa. In 2019, I moved back home and we came up here for the summer, as per usual. And then it felt too good to leave. It just felt like home.” Jakob Chychrun’s grandfather, John, and sister, Taylor, were in the stands to watch Jakob’s home debut with the Ottawa Senators against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday night.So, too, is grandfather John, who has received his fair share of time in the spotlight in recent days. Jakob joked Saturday that the family almost needed to hire John a press secretary to deal with the media requests.
