Owning a home is valued as worthwhile, but people worry whether this is financially attainable.

Still, the survey noted that nearly two in three of those polled stated they could afford the average home in their area — though a decreasing number believe they would purchase a single-family detached home. Among features respondents valued when looking for a home, location topped the list followed by number of bedrooms and a yard.
