As the opposition explores the best ways to capture power from the ANC at next year's elections, the UDM will this weekend consider a proposal by its leader, Bantu Holomisa, for opposition parties to contest as a unit.
This must not be read as a negative but rather as a positive outcome of a flourishing democracy. This outcome will promote checks and balances that are needed in South Africa, given the corruption that we are experiencing due to the current one-party dominance in national, provincial and local government spheres.
Holomisa has questioned the DA’s moonshot pact for working on the assumption that the DA would be the leader of such a coalition. Meshoe also slammed the DA over singling out the EFF as its “enemy number one” and said it fermented enmity into politics.
