Ali Bastian and David O' Mahony were delighted to introduce their newborn daughter to the world💗💗

Married acting duo Ali Bastian and David O' Mahony were delighted to welcome OK! into their beautiful west London home to introduce their newborn daughter to the world. Hollyoaks favourite Ali, 41, and The Musketeers star David, 40 - who also share daughter Isla, three - view themselves as "very lucky and grateful to have two beautiful girls", having welcomed Isabella Charlotte on 11 February by Caesarean section.

Describing the birth of her second daughter, Ali tells OK!: "The midwife was like, ‘Ready, 1,2,3…’ Then the screen dropped and Isabella was lifted up. I just sobbed. It was so overwhelmingly emotional." "It was an eye-opening first-hand experience of how under pressure the NHS is," says Ali. "The staff were all incredible and so apologetic."

"She straightened me out and was like, ‘Right, now it’s your go,’ and I was rushed through to theatre.""Isabella was in a really awkward position so it was quite a struggle to get her out," explains Ali. "She was a little bit black and blue when she came out. She had bruises on one side of her face and a little cut on the other side from the forceps.

"She’s always been beautiful and rejected Hollywood ideas of womanhood. It just kind of stuck. We really liked it.""The name Charlie was another frontrunner," says David. "I really like names that are long and traditional but can be shortened to whatever matches their personality. So Izzy, Bella, Charlie… it’s all on the table. Izzy is kind of sticking at the moment.

"I’m noticing that I’m juggling two very different needs. We have a three-year-old who is full of energy and ready to explore the world around her, and then a newborn who obviously needs to stay close." "And people were putting things through the door to help me. A lady on the street went and got us cookies and I still haven’t met her. My sense is that everybody needs the support after we did this on our own during lockdown."

They have been taking Isla to an allergist, Professor Adam Fox, who they say has really helped, with her now able to tolerate some foods that were off limits. She left Doctors in 2019 and says, "I really want to make a strong return to acting this year. I love medical dramas and would love to be in another."
