EXCLUSIVE: mtvgeordieshore's HollyHaganBlyth reveals all about her and Blythy9's 'sperm meets egg' conception, football-themed reveal and poingnant due date ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
Holly Hagan-Blyth and her footballer husband Jacob are ringing in the new year as excited parents-to-be. The couple, who wed in a stunning Ibiza ceremony last June, have shared their joyous news exclusively with OK! VIPs, revealing their first child is due on a truly poignant date.
“We’re due on the exact date of our wedding anniversary,” beams Holly, revealing their news exclusively to OK! . “Since the wedding, I’ve been tracking my ovulation and taking supplements because I can suffer from irregular periods sometimes, usually if I’m stressed,” says Holly. “The month I fell pregnant was the month we really tried. We used a method called the ‘sperm meets egg’.
“I found out seven days before my missed period – it was scarily early,” she says. “My friends were around and we were supposed to be drinking so I thought I’d better take a test just in case. I saw a very faint line, so I just had one glass of Champagne and faked it for the rest of the night. I took another test the next morning and it came up as ‘pregnant’.
Holly, who is 18 weeks pregnant, and Jacob have shared their happy news with their immediate families as well as her closest friends and Geordie Shore co-stars Charlotte Crosby, who gave birth to her first child, daughter Alba Jean with boyfriend Jake Ankers in October, and Marnie Simpson, mum to Oax and Rox with fiancé Casey Johnson.
Holly is now in the second trimester and, aside from a bit of fatigue and nausea, she is feeling relieved that her pregnancy has gone smoother than expected, especially as she saw firsthand the hard time Charlotte had. The reality stars have remained close ever since joining Geordie Shore’s original line-up in 2011, when they were catapulted into the limelight alongside stars including Gaz Beadle and Vicky Pattison.
“We’re coinciding it with our UK wedding,” says Holly. “The wedding part will be first for our family and friends that couldn’t come to Ibiza. It’s far bigger and is going to be more of a party vibe and we will do the aisle thing. The only reason I’m doing this is because I bought the winter wedding dress already two years ago! Thankfully it’s a bit big so the bump will fit. Then the second part of the evening will be the gender reveal.
Holly, who has bravely spoken out about her battle with bulimia in the past after being viciously trolled online as well as her anger towards the promotion of diet culture, admits she has struggled with the weight gain in her pregnancy. Dubbed the “fat one” in the early years of her reality series, what started as a one-off turned into her being sick up to seven times a day in a bid to try to be thin for the approval of others.
“I tell her she’s beautiful all the time,” says Jacob. “But she’s not that confident at the minute. The other day we were going to the post office and she wouldn’t go in because she wasn’t happy with her appearance.” “There are huge benefits and I’ll definitely think about it. But I turned out OK and I was bottlefed. Whatever I decide I know there’s going to be controversy either way. If I decide to do a non-medicated homebirth, or a C-section, if I breastfeed or bottle feed, people will say something.
