A number of activities will be offered
over the summer holidays to children who receive benefits-related free school meals. Nottinghamshire County Council's Holiday Activities and Food programme works with schools, young people's centres, external providers as well as the district and borough council's across the county to offer support.
These activities included bowling, ice skating, climbing, crafts, cooking, sports, dance, and adventure days. Of those that gave feedback, 96 per cent of children wanted to join the programme again in 2023 and 89 per cent said they had fun.Natalie, parent to a child who took part in the spring HAF programme, said: “I would definitely recommend HAF, it’s very good for children’s social skills. My daughter loves it here. All the new skills that she’s learning are great”.
Parents can also check if their child is eligible for free school meals by visiting the County Council ’s website. Clare Harding, Head Teacher at Asquith Primary school, said: “There’s a whole bunch of reasons why HAF is so important.
