Sarah Forsythe, left, and Kurtis Henry are the UPEI Panther Subway athletes of the week for Jan. 9-15. - UPEICHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — The UPEI Panther Subway athletes of the week for Jan. 9-15 are Sarah Forsythe and Kurtis Henry .

A science student from Riverview, N.B., Forsythe continued to be a steady force between the pipes as she allowed just one goal over two weekend games. The sophomore goalie recorded 28 saves in Friday's 3-1 win over Saint Mary's University and then followed that up with a shutout against Dalhousie University the next night.

“Sarah was really good this weekend,” said Panthers head coach Sean Fisher. “She competed hard for pucks, was challenging shooters, and looked really sharp in her play and habits. The team played confidently in front of her, and I know they were excited for her.”Henry, a defenceman and a second-year arts student from Garden River First Nations, Ont., continues to be a reliable defender along the blue-line and is enjoying a breakout season.

“Kurtis had a good week for us and has had a terrific season,” said UPEI head coach Forbes MacPherson. “He has taken his game to another level and continues to be a reliable defenceman who is hard to play against. As a sophomore, he’s also showing significant leadership qualities.” It has been our privilege to have the trust and support of our East Coast communities for the last 200 years.
