“After a period of reflection, she next pursued the matter through the formality of the civil justice system in the form of a lawsuit. The lawsuit was commenced on April 20, 2022, and was concluded on May 24, 2022,” the statement said. “She’s done everything she can… But I think her contribution privately and publicly is at an end, thankfully,” Talach said.
Talach said there have been far worse scandals that never prompted federal subcommittee hearings, and suggested that the incident has taken the focus away from other pressing government matters such as inflation, passport tie-ups and low approval ratings.Article contentThe veteran advocate in sexual assault civil actions pointed, for example, at the Roman Catholic Church and its long list of cases related to abuse of children by clergy.
Talach said that doesn’t mean Hockey Canada doesn’t have problems. The national outrage directed to this case comes from the country’s deep cultural connection to the game and hero worship of the players, he said.
