HISD job fair seeks to hire teachers for the first school year under TEA control

to be completed in June. The TEA will appoint a new superintendent and nine new board members. Experts say current HISD teachers may be looking to the TEA for clarity about the coming transition in order to decide whether to remain with the district.

The TEA scheduled community meetings for parents and educators to learn more about the appointment process for the board of managers. The upcoming meetings are:Thursday, March 30 at Kashmere High School, 6900 Wileyvale Additionally, the East End Alliance is hosting a community meeting at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the E.B. Cape Center, 4501 Leeland St. Scheduled guests include HISD board resident Dani Hernandez, State Rep. Christina Morales, State Board of Education member Staci Childs and Houston Federation of Teachers President Jackie Anderson.
