United land another lethal forward to bolster their attacking threat both domestically and in Europe
Manchester United are undoubtedly thrilled that Hinata Miyazawa has joined their roster on a permanent deal. United reportedly edged Liverpool in the bid for Japan’s prolific midfielder, and the 2023 Women’s World Cup Golden Boot winner. And what an addition she will be, bolstering United's attacking threat.
But somehow she unlocked a deadly stealth for goals at the height of the women’s game and became the star of the tournament, beating ridiculously talented strikers with household names expected to take home the accolade; Alex Morgan, Sophia Smith, Rachel Daly, Sam Kerr, Esther Gonzalez and Alexandra Popp among them.
She also featured on the left flank of the same formation against Norway and Sweden, netting her fifth goal of the tournament in the former. It’s no secret that United’s number 10 struggled to perform last season and during the World Cup - that worldy goal against Australia aside. Perhaps this grants Toone some much-needed resting time throughout the season to get the best out of her. Or some healthy competition for the starting spot.
If anything was missing from last season, albeit a successful campaign it's the ability to bring players in to impact the game. An individual who can switch up the tempo and style rather than force play, beating the same old drum.
