It’s an amazing learning experience.

Hiking also provides a challenge that we find is a lot of fun. Recently, we hiked the Beehive Trail in Acadia National Park located in Maine. It’s a famous rung and ladder trail, that is about a 2-mile loop and is described as, “difficult.” You get steep granite staircases, iron rungs, and exposed cliff faces. Literally, you will climb your way up over 450 feet of cliffs and boulders. But you’re rewarded with stunning views over the Gulf of Maine stretching to the horizon.

Ohio offers great hiking including the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. For a real workout try the Furnace Run Trail across the street from the Everett Road Covered Bridge. That includes about 180 steps up a cliff then a nice hiking loop back to the bridge and parking lot.
