The Warriors ended a nine-game losing streak that dated back to last season with a 19-16 win over the expansion Las Vegas Desert Dogs at Rogers Arena. Richardson hired Cordingley last summer, coaxing him away from an assistant general manager’s spot with the Buffalo Bandits and back into coaching after Vancouver finished 6-12 and missed the playoffs for the seventh time in eight seasons. Cordingley is one of only five coaches with 100 or more wins in the history of the National Lacrosse League.Article content
He’ll carry a 104-87 career mark as a bench boss and shoot for a second victory with the Warriors next Friday when they visit the Desert Dogs at Mandalay Bay’s Michelob Ultra Arena. “I know everybody talks about expansion but that’s a real good team,” Cordingley told reporters after Saturday’s game. “We have to look at some film and continue to prepare for some things they threw at us this week. We have to be ready because we’re going into their barn and it’s fresh off of this game.”
It was a milestone night for Shawn Evans as he passes Mark Steenhuis and becomes NINTH on the all-time goal scorer list.
