Continued efforts to rid communities of drugs are yielding success as members of Operation Restore arrested suspects for the possession of drugs on Thursday.
The members were busy with high density operations in the Gugulethu area when they searched a premises in NY78 and confiscated 196 mandrax tablets, 11 plastic packets containing dagga and 11 half mandrax tablets. A 33-year-old female was arrested for the possession of drug. In an unrelated matter in Mfuleni, members of Operation Restore arrested two suspects, aged 25 and 31, for robbery with a firearm and possession of an imitation firearm. The members responded to a complaint of a robbery in Wimbledon Street, Happy Valley, when they chased the suspects on foot and apprehended them. A cellular telephone and cash were found in possession of the suspects.
The suspects will appear in the Athlone and Blue Downs Magistrates’ courts on Monday, 06 November 2023. Members of Operation Shanela were busy with a stop and search operation in the Khayelitsha area when they noticed a suspicious looking man who started to run when he saw the police members approaching. The members gave chase and apprehended the man and found an imitation firearm in his possession.Furthermore members of the K9 Unit followed up information about a consignment of Khat on a bus enroute to Cape Town.
