Charles Potts 'will continue to pose a risk for a considerable time'
Charles Potts, 38, only released his victim when the police arrived and Tasered him during the incident on April 4, 2024.
"He believed you were trying to render him unconscious", The Honorary Recorder of Preston, Judge Robert Altham said. Potts' neice took the children who were at the house to a bedroom, but her uncle dragged her from the room. The family friend stepped in again, but Potts told his neice: "If you aren't out in 10 seconds I'll kill your mum."
Potts pleaded guilty to common assault of his sister and nephew, ABH of his neice, strangulation, false imprisonment and threats to kill of the family friend, and affray. He admitted he was under the influence of alcohol and cocaine at the time of the incident.
