Heritage bosses have discussed with Stirling Council the shocking demolition of listed city landmark the George Christie Memorial Clock.
Stirling MSP Evelyn Tweed wrote to Ms Beattie on Monday calling for an investigation and to ask a number of questions including what discussions had taken place with HES prior to the demolition of the listed structure. Mr Kane’s statement said: “We acknowledge and share the public upset following the demolition of the Christie clock.“Officers will work at pace to prepare a report for the next council meeting to provide further information on that plan. The legacy of the Christie clock will be preserved.
Ms Tweed also pointed out this week that her questions to the council are being treated as a Freedom of Information request, adding: “The people of Stirling are upset, and rightly so, and they deserve timely answers. It was made by Alexander McKenzie Lupton and was a gift to Stirling from Provost Christie’s widow Ellen Christie.
