Approximately 12,000 people still do not have power in Northeast Ohio.
CLEVELAND, Ohio – About 12,000 people still do not have power in Northeast Ohio but that should be changing soon, according to FirstEnergy Corp.
About 466,000 FirstEnergy customers were impacted when tornadoes and storms ripped through the region last week. The utility said crews are working 16-hour shifts to restore power to the areas that were hit the hardest; eastern Cuyahoga County, western Lake County, central Geauga County and central Portage County.
According to FirstEnergy, here is when power is expected to be restored for the remaining areas hit by storms:11 p.m. Aug. 28: Cleveland, Brooklyn and Strongsville areas as well as Kent and other areas in Portage County.4 p.m. Aug. 30: Mayfield, Solon, Concord and Bainbridge areas.“This will require workers to travel to hundreds of individual locations to restore power to single homes or businesses.
Free water and ice are available to customers without power at several local Giant Eagle locations beginning Monday and running through noon Thursday or until supplies last.24601 Chagrin Blvd., Beachwood.6259 Mayfield Road, Mayfield Heights.909 E. Main St., Ravenna.
