McKinney will help residents safely dispose of unused or expired prescription drugs Saturday as part of National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.
The national event, sponsored by the Drug Enforcement Administration, aims to prevent drug addictions and overdoses. It also helps keep contaminants from water, which happens when people flush drugs.
The McKinney Police Department partners with the Collin County Sheriff’s Office to participate in the event twice a year, according to the city’s website. As part of the free and anonymous service, residents can bring expired, unwanted and unused prescription drugs to McKinney’s Public Safety Building from 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
