Announced during Disney+'s presentation at Disney's D23 Expo in 2019,The Muppets have had a rocky road to revival. After two new live-action films in 2011 and 2014, the franchise seemed to show some life. A series on ABC in 2015 was put into the development and quickly canceled, but on the Disney+ side,is the second Muppets project to be put into development. The first was a Muppets comedy series that was scrapped.
