The City of Tshwane has increased police visibility on freeway spiking hotspots, by deploying TMPD, SAPS, and other agencies.
The City of Tshwane has ramped up police visibility on freeways identified as hotspots for vehicle spiking. Tshwane Metro Police Department officers, along with members of the South African Police Service and other law enforcement agencies, have been deployed to tackle the escalating crime,In recent weeks, Pretoria has witnessed a surge in spiking incidents, with vehicles, including ambulances and police cars, driving over spikes placed on certain freeways.
The TMPD identified several spike hotspots: the N4 Highway eastbound between Wonderboom and Bronkhorstspruit, the N4 Highway westbound between Doornpoort Toll Plaza and Brits Toll Plaza, Mabopane Highway between Es’kia Mphahlele Drive and Ruth First Road, and the N1 Highway between Carousel and Maubane Bridge.
