The victors of the CTCycleTour have been crowned — and some folks in the Mother City are still curled up in bed! It was a battle between the best, but MarcPritzen and KimLeCourt pedalled hard to a gold medal finish. Congratulations to all cyclists!
The Cape Town Cycle Tour is a 109km marvel that starts and finishes in the shadows of Table Mountain. To safely usher so many cyclists around the route requires precision planning, with cut-offs strictly enforced and sweep vehicles at the ready to pick up those bodies and bikes that can’t be fixed by the on-route mechanical and medical angels.
It’s a fiercely competitive and highly anticipated event that lures in cyclists from around the world. This year, the wet weather proved to be no danger for the best of the best. Here are the winners of the “most beautiful bike race in the world”.With less than ten kilometres to go, it was a battle until the end between Pritzen, Sascha Weber and HB Kruger. Kruger was the favourite to win, but the former SA champ pedalled his way to gold.
