Donald S. Kyle, of Hercules, continued to look at child pornography after his home was searched in a 2018 investigation, prosecutors said.
SAN FRANCISCO — A Bay Area man who allegedly continued to look at child pornography even after his home was searched by federal investigators in 2018 was sentenced to three years in prison, court records show.
Donald S. Kyle, of Hercules, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Jon Tigar. Kyle was charged last year after a federal investigation linked him to online chatrooms where child sexual abuse material was frequently shared. Among the files accessed by Kyle was an eight-minute video showing a boy younger than 10 “naked and locked in a cage,” and then being molested by a man, according to the criminal complaint.
Prosecutors asked for a four-year prison term, describing Kyle as a recidivist offender who continued to search for child pornography even after his laptop was seized in a 2018 investigation when he lived in San Francisco. Kyle subsequently moved to Hercules, where federal authorities say he “was active in online communities where he shared images and links to images of child sexual abuse material in these online communities.
