“He’s been wanting to come over for a long time and I said, ‘no, you’re not,’ that I didn’t know what I’d gotten myself into,” said Hughes, 58, who arrived in Ukraine in March.
“It’d be good for him to see what’s really happening here, the damage and the impact of the war,” Hughes said in a phone interview from shell-battered Borodyanka in the Kyiv region.
