A helicopter crashed and burned at Mhlambanyatsi in the Montigny forests in western eSwatini on Tuesday morning, according to local media reports.

According to online news publication Swaziland News.com, the Montigny Group communications manager confirmed the incident.

The accident comes as eSwatini is in the throes of pro-democracy protests in what is Africa’s last absolute monarchy. Protesters are calling for an end to King Mswati III’s rule, as well as demanding political reforms. Last week, nurses refused to treat police officers, accusing them of shooting their colleagues during pro-democracy rallies.
