Severely lacking in visual interest and reliant just a bit too much on exposition-heavy dialogue, Golda doesn't quite work as a war thriller.

At a tight 100 minutes, including credits, it's a highly contained, focused and stripped-back affair that never loses focus on its title character, except for one short but vital sequence where we see General Moshe Dayan flying over the war zone, visibly rattled by what he sees and hears. It's tight, claustrophobic stuff.
Obviously, it won't play at all to the anti-Israel crowds who presumably have no time for anything that shows the country in a positive light . The bigger concern here is whether it will engage general audiences who aren't well-versed in this particular slice of history.
