Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement, warning of heavy snow and blowing snow for the Prince George region Thursday.

Mackenzie, the Pine Pass, Prince George and Highway 97 extending through Quesnel and Williams Lake down to Clinton, could be affected Thursday afternoon and evening, along with communities to the west, including Vanderhoof, Fraser Lake and Fort St. James. Drivers should be prepared for poor driving conditions, with heavy snow and blowing snow, with total snowfall accumulation of 10 to 20 centimetres, combined with winds out of the southeast gusting from 30 to 60 km/h.

The snow is expected to end overnight Thursday and transition to rain in most areas, including Prince George, on Friday morning.
