Rain will become increasingly widespread and heavy snow will fall in the mountains starting Sunday evening into Monday morning.
Breezes will increase out of the south Sunday evening and then turn westerly during the day Monday.
Wind gust speeds of 25-35 mph will be common around the Sound with the chance for winds to exceed 40 mph at times in Puget Sound, along the coast, the Strait and the islands.While many trees are just starting to bud and bloom, we haven’t had strong winds in a while so we could see some sporadic issues with tree damage and power outages, particularly Sunday night through Monday.Great news for snow lovers! This system is set up almost perfectly for a big dump of powder in the mountains.
Precipitation starts Sunday afternoon and ramps up Sunday evening but we could see rain or a rain/snow mix at Snoqualmie and even Stevens passes initially on Sunday as temperatures will be just a little too warm in spots. This changes by Monday morning as snow levels fall to below 3,000 feet and westerly winds of 40+ mph just off the surface will slam Pacific moisture into the mountains.
A Winter Storm Warning is in effect from Sunday afternoon through Monday night for 1 to 2 feet of snow through the passes and all of the mountains, but this weather setup promises even higher amounts at higher elevations.MONDAY NIGHT AND BEYONDWednesday and Thursday look drier with sunshine and we could be in the 60s for Thursday before some slightly cooler weather and a chance for rain arrive on Friday.
