There is a risk for dangerous rip currents for all New Jersey beaches through Wednesday because of swells from distant Hurricane Franklin, according to the National Weather Service.

Aug. 29, 2023, 7:39 a.m.National Weather ServiceScattered showers and heavy rains are in the forecast for Tuesday with dangerous rip currents expected along New Jersey beaches as Hurricane Franklin continues to churn in the Atlantic Ocean.

“A high risk for dangerous rip current development remains for Tuesday and Wednesday for all beaches as a result of swells from distant Hurricane Franklin,” theMinor coastal flooding is also expected Tuesday with the evening high tide. A small craft advisory is in effect through Wednesday for seas expected to rise more than 5 feet above normal.
