The South African weather service has issued warnings for heavy rain and thunderstorms across most provinces, with a yellow level 5 warning in place for Limpopo and Mpumalanga. The warnings come as significant damage has been reported in several areas due to adverse weather conditions.
Most parts of the country have been battered by heavy downpours. The weather service is expecting the rainfall and thunderstorms to persist.The weather service issued a yellow level 5 warning for disruptive rainfall in Limpopo and Mpumalanga, except for the extreme south-western parts of both provinces.
The rainfall could lead to: The second warning is a yellow level 2 also for disruptive rainfall over the northern parts of Gauteng, the extreme south-western parts of both Limpopo and Mpumalanga as well as the Wild coast areas of the Eastern Cape. The rainfall could lead to localised flooding and damage to settlements and infrastructure, low-lying areas and bridges. Lastly, severe thunderstorms with heavy downpours, possible strong gusty winds and hail, leading to localised flooding of roads and settlements, displacement of affected communities, and localised damage to formal and informal structures are expected over the south- western parts of North West and the west-central parts of Free State.The warnings come as significant damage has been reported in several parts of the country which have been battered by adverse weather conditions, especially heavy downpours.named Dikeledi is expected to affect parts of Africa.
