The Hawks arrested a 33-year-old suspect in Gauteng for the assassination of State Prosecutor Tracy Brown, who was gunned down outside her home in Gqeberha.

Brown, a regional court prosecutor in, was nabbed at a coordinated roadblock on Thursday, 21 August 2025. The Hawks marked the arrest as a significant step but stated that this is not the end.
A multidisciplinary Hawks team, led by the Serious Organised Crime Investigation unit and supported by SAPS divisions, launched an intensive investigation that quickly identified the suspect. He attempted to flee to Johannesburg but was apprehended last week.
