A local NPO, Harvesters in Love, is calling on the community for support as it prepares to host a soup kitchen for vulnerable children in Daveyton this Saturday, June 6. The organisation, a group of women from different parts of the city and registered with the Department of Social Development, aims to feed 100 children in the area and is appealing for donations to help make the initiative possible.

Harvesters in Love says any assistance from the public will be greatly appreciated as they work to provide meals and small care packages for children in need. According to one of the event organisers, Cathy Bennett, the organisation has also hosted previous outreach initiatives in Primrose, Germiston, where dozens of children were fed and food hampers were distributed in November last year. Community members and businesses willing to assist are encouraged to come forward ahead of the weekend.

The aim is to provide much-needed nutrition and support to children in need. Fanie joined Boksburg Advertiser over 14 years ago – covering a wide range of issues under the sun.
