Harry and Meghan's Nigerian visit: Roots inspire royal visit and future Invictus Games glory
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will visit Nigeria in May, following Harry's UK visit for the Invictus Games' 10th anniversary.
Meghan's Nigerian heritage adds a personal touch to the visit, emphasised by their interaction with Team Nigeria at last year's games., the Defence Headquarters announced that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex accepted an invitation to visit the country to meet Service members and attend various cultural activities.
Brig Gen Tukur Gusau, Acting Director of Defence Information in Nigeria, said,"The visit is to consolidate Nigeria's stronghold at the game and the possibility of hosting the event in later years," in a statement. Harry joked during his opening speech at the Invictus Games last year:"Now I'm not saying we play favourites in our home… but since my wife discovered that she is of Nigerian descent, it's likely to get a little bit more competitive this year."
