Blaze left a duplex on North 4th Street badly damaged.

A Harrisburg man has been temporarily displaced by a Saturday morning fire in the 3000 block of North 4th Street.

City Fire Chief Brian Enterline said crews were dispatched to the brick duplex home at 10:40 a.m. after the fire was discovered. The man who lived in the unit where the fire started was not home at the time, Enterline said, and according to emergency dispatchers all residents from the other unit had safely evacuated.

Responding firefighters found fire in a ground-floor bedroom to the rear of the building, which Enterline said was quickly extinguished. The chief said all signs are that an electrical problem sparked the fire, which he has determined to be accidental. Enterline said the affected tenant will be out of his home until repairs can be completed, and he is being assisted by the Red Cross. Thanks to a quick report and good staffing, Enterline said the other half of the duplex was not affected by the fire and its residents were permitted to return. If you purchase a product or register for an account through one of the links on our site, we may receive compensation.
