The boss was taking a cautious approach after an impressive display from his side against the La Liga outfit.
Michael Beale admitted it’s too early to heap praise on his under-fire Rangers as he told them to back up their Betis win against Motherwell.
“I told them to step over the line, to commit to the game fully and not be a seven out of ten. In that changing room it is worth it but it is just three points and the focus is now Motherwell. Davis appeared to be the hero as he ran off celebrating when the ball hit the net but it was later confirmed Sima had applied the all important touch. But Beale was still impressed with his centre-back’s contribution after a difficult 12 months in Scotland.
There were a couple of scares near the end as Manuel Pellegrini’s La Liga outfit threw everything at Jack Butland’s goal. But the keeper was rock solid - as were the men in front of him, throwing their bodies on the line to keep out the late wave of Spanish attacks. Now Rangers head to Cyprus for matchday two against Aris Limassol with a great chance of racking up another three points to put them in command of Group C.
