Reception staff have been told to terminate calls or phone the police if they feel abuse 😞
Crookston Medical Centre, in the city’s Southside, revealed in a statement published today that “it’s difficult to comprehend what the receptionists experience”.A full statement read:"We write this at an extremely difficult time for your NHS. Following the Covid-19 pandemic, services were already stretched to the limit."The recent outbreaks of influenza and strep A have increased the pressure immensely on what was already a finite resource.
"We can assure you the staff at CMC are working beyond their limits in effort and time. We understand this can lead to frustration in arranging appointments. "However, the abuse of our reception staff will never be tolerated. They are trying to do what is at present a near-impossible task and they do it with an incredible degree of skill and professionalism."It is difficult to contemplate what the front door staff experience unless you see it first-hand. The reception staff have been instructed to immediately terminate telephone calls if they feel threatened, intimidated, or abused.
"In the surgery, they will contact the police. We are trying our best to help everyone, but we also need the help and support of our patients."
