NASCAR has penalised Denny Hamlin for intentionally walling Ross Chastain in the Phoenix Cup Series race, as well as coming down hard on teams' unapproved modifications of single-source supplier parts - docking all four Hendrick cars 100 owners points ⬇️
On his podcast, Actions Detrimental, Hamlin openly admitted to walling Chastain on purpose during the final restart of last weekend's raceHamlin said on Monday:"It wasn't a mistake. I let the wheel go and I said he's coming with me."The sanctioning body cited two sections of its Members Code of Conduct in assessing the penalties. Section 4.
Meanwhile, NASCAR also hit all four of Hendrick's teams and Justin Haley's Kaulig Racing team with its biggest penalties yet for Cup Series teams it found had altered parts from a single-source supplier on the Next Gen car. The violation was noted as from Sections 6.1.A Time/Manner/Location; 14.1 C&D&Q Overall Assembled Vehicle Rules; 14.5.4.2.A Radiator Duct Note: Unapproved modification of a single source vendor supplied part .
