While Matthew Hutchins, the husband of slain “Rust” cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, was dealing with Alec Baldwin’s denials last week that he had any responsibility for her shooting, and even blaming her for her own death, he was dealing with another family crisis: His Ukrainian-born wife’s mother and father are trapped in Kyiv.this week said that his late wife’s parents can’t leave Ukraine’s capital city, as Russia’s unprovoked invasion of its democratic neighbor enters its third week.
Hutchins’ family became trapped in this humanitarian crisis four months after the cinematographer, a graduate of Kyiv National University who moved to Los Angeles in 2010, was fatally wounded on the New Mexico set of “Rust,” the low-budget Western starring Baldwin, who also was a producer. In the weeks since Hutchins’ death, Baldwin has sought to deny any responsibility for what he has said was a “tragic” accident., the veteran film and TV star said he was assured by other crew members that the gun was safe to use — meaning it held no live rounds, only dummy rounds. He also denied pulling the trigger and said that Hutchins gave him the directions that led to her fatal shooting.
The purpose of Baldwin’s arbitration filing is to seek to protect the star from any financial responsibility for Hutchins’ death, which has been claimed in a slew of lawsuits that have been filed against him.revealed a macabre-sounding effort
